Terms & Conditions, Chelmsford Roofing Work
The basis on which SL Roofing Services quotes for and carries out roofing work.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to quotations issued and work carried out by SL Roofing Services, a family-run roofing contractor led by Samuel Lloyd. They sit alongside your legal rights as a consumer, which they do not affect.
2. Quotations and inspections
Roof inspections and quotations are provided free of charge and without obligation. We quote on a fixed-price basis for the work described, we do not work to day rates. Prices are based on what we can see and reasonably establish at the inspection. If genuinely defects are uncovered once work begins, for example decayed timbers concealed beneath a covering, we will stop, explain the position and agree any additional work and cost with you in writing before continuing.
3. Accepting a quotation
A contract is formed when you accept our written quotation and we confirm a start date. Please tell us before work starts about anything that could affect access, such as parking restrictions, shared driveways, boundary agreements or planning and conservation requirements affecting the property.
4. Carrying out the work
We will carry out the work with reasonable skill and care and to the specification set out in your quotation. Start dates and durations are estimates given in good faith: roofing is weather-dependent and we will not work in conditions that would compromise the quality or safety of the job. We will keep you informed if the weather moves a date.
5. Payment
Payment terms are those stated on your quotation or invoice. Please raise any query about an invoice with us promptly so we can resolve it directly.
6. Guarantee
New roofs carry a three-year guarantee on our workmanship from the date of completion. Repair work is not covered by that guarantee, and we will make that clear to you before you instruct repair work. Where a manufacturer provides its own product or membrane guarantee, that is provided by the manufacturer on its own terms.
Our guarantee does not cover damage caused by storm, accidental damage, structural movement, third-party work carried out after ours, lack of routine maintenance such as clearing gutters, or normal wear and tear on parts of the roof we did not renew.
7. Insurance
We hold £1 million of public liability insurance covering the work we carry out. Evidence of cover is available on request.
8. Cancellation
Where you enter into a contract with us away from our business premises, you generally have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days. If you ask us to begin work within that period and then cancel, we may charge for work already carried out and materials already supplied.
9. Complaints
If something is not right, tell us first. Call 07564 288751 or email slroofingservices2019@gmail.com. We would much rather come back and put it right than have you unhappy with our work.
10. Website content
Content on this website is provided for general information about our services and does not constitute a survey, specification or professional advice about your particular roof. Any illustrative project descriptions are examples of typical work rather than named individual customer jobs.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
